Artists Gabriëlla Cleuren, Wyacheslaw Volynets and Vinz Sonderlinck are pleased to invite you to the opening of ‘Brave New Old Worlds’.
Each in their own artistic way, they reflect on our times. With their paintings, sculptures and drawings, they expose the underlying dynamics between the present and the past and ask an open question about what a better future in a rapidly changing world might look like.
With Gabriëlla Cleuren, the emphasis is mainly on the plastic translation of underlying emotions, starting from the gut feeling. In her highly expressive and colourful style, we are immediately involved with the image and she scratches the calluses off our souls, as it were. Her works can best be described as painterly poems: metaphors that always try to capture the essential and keep a finger on the pulse of our contemporary society.
Wyacheslaw Volynets' paintings are characterised by a refined technique of surreal landscapes and allegories. Volynets' eye for detail enhances the vividness of his visionary dreamscapes. His surrealist settings amaze us by creating compositions with unexpected visual elements and symbols that make us think more deeply about our contemporary world.
Vinz Sonderlinck's canvases are populated by waking dreamers, mysterious figures wandering in a kind of indefinable twilight zone, as a metaphor for the contemporary man in search of a better and meaningful world.
The opening ‘Brave New Old Worlds’ will take place on Saturday 8 March 2025, from 6pm to 9pm at Caprice Gallery and will be accompanied by a tasty snack and drink!
The exhibition runs from Saturday 8 March 2025 to Saturday 12 April 2025.
You can visit the exhibition at Stationsstraat 25, 9100 Sint-Niklaas, every Thursday to Saturday, from 3pm to 6pm each time.
